THE LIGHT WORKS CD ROM
Be welcome to the THE LIGHT WORKS CD! You will find objects and textures
for Reflections and rendered things of Reflections - especially pictures
- and for Amiga: also animations.
This CD contains about three parts of Reflections-data:
* Amiga
* PC, with short filenames (at the moment: OS/2, Win3.1, Win3.11, WinNT)
* PC, with long filenames (Win95 and coming operating-systems for PC)
Most of data for Amiga is choosable via Workbench and contains animations
as further data. These could not be converted to a PC-format, because the
PC is too restrictiv in its possible animation-formats. The rendered data
- especially the drawer of pictures and animations - is saved in diffe-
rent formats.
The data for PCs' with long filenames is most identical to that one for
Amiga. Most of data for PCs' with short filenames had to be renamed
because of that limit of 8 characters per name. You have to care about
this, if you want to exchange the objects. If you have used objects with
short filenames, they will nevertheless need their textures with same
short names after transfer. But basicly it is unimportant, which data of
Reflections you are transfering from any source to different destination,
picture-data as well as data of objects.
Now each block of Reflections-data for upper three systems is subdivided:
* Reflections 3.xx
* Reflections 4 and following
Why that subdivision? Reflections v4 works also with real balls, Version
3.xx cannot handle real balls. And Ref4 allows to animate bodies of an
object; that is impossible in 3.xx, too. So the bodies of objects have
been seperated for making it easier to you to animate them.
If you enter a new directory and you are looking for further informations
or do have some questions, please read the textfiles. The texts should be
able to give you that answers.
The texts on CD in german are ending with an *.LiesMich or rather *.txt,
the texts on CD in english are ending with an *.readme or rather *.doc.
To bann possible problems at the beginning:
(date: Reflections 3.xx)
If you want to render a loaded object, do not forget its textures or
rather its texture-path! At the latest if you want to render the scene,
you have to tell Reflections where it may find the needed textures. Then
you have to save the changing after adding that path. Please read the
textfiles at each object about what you have to care about or have to do.
- It is possible, that the managment of textur-paths' will be changed. In
that case the texts about how to add needed textures from CD will loose
their validity of course. Then you would have to take the manual for help
in doubts.
Sometimes the texts for objest are suggesting to animate e.g. the trust
out of power units. If you are using Reflections Light, you cannot
animate materials.
If there is fog-material within a scene, the ray-depth (Ray-Tiefe) must
be higher than zero, at least the depth, which is suggested in textfile.
Otherwise the fog will not be rendered or it will be rendered, but in in
strange colours.
And now a lot of fun for clicking through the CD!
Yours Oberland-Team
